What We Do

On the last Sunday of every month, with an extra market the first Sunday of December, and no market in January, 8am to 1pm.

PARTNERS
The local Scouts Troops and Donvale Montessori Early Education Centre partner with us to help us run the market. The market has a wide range of an eclectic mix of stalls. Rotary sells egg & bacon rolls for breakfast till 8.30am and sausage sizzle until 12.30pm.

We sponsor 18 – 30 year olds to this Rotary sponsored program – a residential intensive leadership experience to foster leadership skills whilst having fun and making connections with like minded people.

We sponsor local students to exciting activities such as the annual NATIONAL YOUTH SCIENCE FORUM – a 10 day residential science experience which aims to inspire and connect young Australians with science and technology and provide information about study, training, mentoring, careers and interest. It also helps to secure and expand the science and technology workforce in Australia.

A yearly project – club members write Christmas Cards to go with Rotary Christmas cakes which are collected then distributed to the recipients of hampers from the Warrandyte Neighbourhood House.

Our club collaborates on a management committee with the Warrandyte Community Church, Warrandyte Lions, Warrandyte Community Association and local CFA brigades to run the monthly market held on the first Saturday of every month, with an extra pre Christmas market in the middle of December and no market in January.

It is held on the banks of the Yarra River and is a hugely popular market with a dedicated clientele and many varied and interesting stalls.

Kids Corner at the Op Shop.

The club operates an extensive Op Shop in Yarra Street, Warrandyte, staffed by a band of hard working volunteers. The Op Shop has a dedicated clientele and people come from all over Melbourne, especially at weekends.

Attached to the Op Shop is a recycling collection point. Various items are collected and distributed to relevant people and organizations who use the materials. Some of the items are sent to the local Anglican Church who have a thriving recycling program.

Rotarians and other volunteers collect food made by “Alex Makes Meals”, for any local in need to avail themselves of.

2023 Judge Cherry Manders with the winning painting.

The Art Show is held in conjunction with the annual Warrandyte Festival in March. It has been running for 36 years, with a break of 2 years during covid lockdowns.

The Art Show reflects the important influence of art in the Warrandyte and surrounding area historically and currently with many local and interstate artists submitting. The Opening Night is always a great social event in the Festival calendar.

We appreciate the generosity of the Warrandyte Community Bank and the Warrandyte Riverside Market for their sponsorship of this event.

The Art Show has been “rested” in 2024 and hopefully will resume in 2025.
